What hobbies, activities, and pastimes fuel your passion?

I spend all of my time off with my “princess”, my nine-year old daughter.  We enjoy so many things together including camping and recently signing up for a dance class…together! Being a good parent helps me also be a good police chief because the foundation is much the same.   Be honest, be ethical, be yourself and be there.

What does an average day (or week) of your life look like?

I believe in making people around you a success every day is the best way to achieve success yourself.  The day of a normal police chief is wonderful because every day is completely different.  In the course of five minutes, I may have to deal with a crisis, emergency, political figures and issues, discipline issues and talking to community residents.  I look at the total picture every day which could include everything from civil liability and safety to handing out stickers to pre-school kids and serving as Rotary President Elect for Brookville.  Each day is exciting and eventful.

How did you become the man you are today?

I believe my own personal drive got me to where I am today, and I want to encourage others to believe in themselves so they can achieve success as well.  When I was younger, I wasn’t always the best student, but I was always motivated and willing to work hard.  As I look at where I am today, I agree with George W. Bush who said, “Look what a “C” student can do!”  I encourage kids to find that internal drive and help them see how education plays a key role.  I never saw myself as a police chief, but one of my main goals was to make a difference in the lives of my friends, family, and community.  Today, I’ve achieved that goal through guts and education, and I’ve even gone on to earn two master’s degrees.  College is important for everyone.  Whatever field you pick, you will need that background.

Why should people vote for you as the best Role Model for Men at Work?

Don’t take any opportunity for granted!  You will never know what each opportunity might bring, and tonight that opportunity is to vote for me!
