Melodie's Story
I love my life today Melodie recently graduated from the Greene Co. Career Center on June 12 with her Medical Assisting certification. She is not shy to say that she received the highest score on the certification exam at the Career Center. Life is good for her now, but has not always been so. Melodie, the youngest of five children, had an alcoholic father. Her parents divorced when she was 8 years old. "Me and my mom always lived in the 'system' to survive," stated Melodie. She quit high school at 19, got married and had her son. Always interested in learning, Melodie got her GED but worked in entry-level jobs. Her marriage led her to an unhealthy lifestyle. After 12 years she left. Through friends, she got help to get on with her life. She came to GreeneWorks to seek advice on going to school and getting a job. Her counselor directed her to CTW for an interview outfit. She secured a position in a medical office but she desired to return to school for advanced training. In 2007 she entered the medical assisting program at the Career Center. Armed with new skills and her new outlook on life, Melodie will be starting a new job at CompuNet. |
