What hobbies, activities, and pastimes fuel your passion?

I am one of those lucky people whose wife loves golf as much as I do. We try to get out on the links once or twice a week, either in the evenings or on weekends.

I love to cook out on the grill on our back patio.

And as a long time history buff I absolutely love to read and spend a lot of time in my home library or on the back porch reading up on various history topics.

What does an average day (or week) of your life look like?

An average day for me begins with reading the paper and having coffee with my wife in the morning. Then it is off to work to deal with all the pending issues. It’s great when I’ve got a chance to dress in a business casual fashion.

A lot of my work is done on the telephone or via e-mail doing legal research or communicating with clients or opposing counsel.

When I don’t have any court appearances or client meeting scheduled I frequently go into the office wearing business casual clothes. It is a much more comfortable way to work and being dressed casually seems to make the hours go by more quickly.

It’s also great because when I finish and am at home, my wife and I will frequently go out to dinner and I don’t have to change.

Week 1: First Impressions

How did you become the man you are today?

I always wanted to be a lawyer from as far back as I can remember. I love the idea of helping people when they get into difficulties. I also enjoyed the challenge involved in trying to figure out a way to solve problems and to come up with a strategy to help my client.

Part of being a lawyer is in making a good impression not only to the client but to the court and to a Jury. The old saying that “the clothes make the man” probably overstates the facts, but there is no doubt that a well-dressed person in a business suit can make a very good first impression.

In addition, I generally just feel better when I know that everything fits, is well matched, and is creating a good professional image. Being well-dressed gives me a greater sense of self-confidence to do what I need to do in a meeting or in court.

Why should people vote for you as the best Role Model for Men at Work?

I have worked out a great balance in my life which combines the professional, business casual, and recreational lifestyles.
