Dayton Business Journal
Week 3: Casually Cool
What do you like to do for fun?
I’ve love being involved in Dayton’s young professionals scene, and the varied people you meet there. We have such a culture here of building things, and everyone wants to be a part of that. The energy is contagious. To work off all that energy, I like to spend time running, rock climbing, exercising and cooking.
Week 2: Workplace Image
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Journalists like to say we’re “professionally curious” people. It’s a different job every day. You’re regularly getting to visit different places and talk to different kinds of people. It’s infinitely rewarding to meet someone and get to know what they do, then tell the world about it. It’s also infinitely rewarding to tell stories that will make a difference where you live. Some days are tougher than others. Nothing is better than the feeling that every ounce of effort translates to something that betters the people around you.
Week 1: First Impressions
What made you decide to pursue your current career or vocation?
I knew I liked to write from a young age, and it was a group of very encouraging teachers in my high school years who really encouraged me to take that route in life. I went to Ohio University to get a journalism degree and never changed my mind for a minute about it.
Business journalism was not the path I thought I would take in life, but it turns out I’ve come to love it! There are a great many good stories to tell.
Why should people vote for you as “the Most Inspirational Man in Dayton?”
Hey, I’ve been trying to win for years! I even wore heels once!
