What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy working with my hands when I am away from the office.  Whether it be farm chores, working on the house, or mowing the lawn; it provides a welcomed contrast to my office life.   I also thoroughly enjoy the outdoors, attending my children’s sporting events, and spending time with my wife and children.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?

Without question, it is the people.  The relationships forged both personally and professionally are what I have found to be the most rewarding.   Whether it be mentoring staff members to realize their potential, teaching new skills, offering new perspectives, or simply building friendships; I have always found helping people realize their dreams and potential to be the most rewarding aspect of my career.

Week 1: First Impressions

What made you decide to pursue your current career or vocation?

As a child, I certainly did not envision working in the accounting and finance profession.   Aspirations of wildlife biology, an “army guy”, or perhaps a fighter pilot dominated my youth.   As I matured, I found myself posed with a question we all ultimately face and must answer, “What do I really want to be when I grow up?”  Finance always appealed to my number oriented, analytical, and rational nature but so did other areas such as engineering, law, and science.   It wasn’t until I was faced with the prospect of paying for my education and charting my life’s course that I was compelled to analyze the merits of the many courses before me.   When I found myself analyzing the merits based on Return on Investment for each possible course, it finally hit me that I had already found “the right fit”.  I haven’t looked back since.

Why should people vote for you as “the Most Inspirational Man in Dayton?”

Because I am simply a good person, willing to endure measures of public humiliation for the advancement of a noble and worthy cause.
