Week 3: Casually Cool
What hobbies, activities, and pastimes fuel your passion?
I love working out and enjoying playing tennis. I love watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats during the college basketball season as well as college football and the NFL. I love watching UFC fights and professional (fake) wrestling with kids from church. I’m a reader and like to write. I’ve written three books and a weekly blog. I’m a serial entrepreneur who likes to start things that empower communities of faith and surrounding areas.
Week 2: Workplace Image
What does an average day (or week) of your life look like?
I’m a pastor at Ginghamsburg Church, which has three campuses—Tipp City, Trotwood, and Fort McKinley—so my week is filled with meeting great people in completely different contexts, having numerous conversations about people’s faith journeys, and random phone calls. It’s work I love, and I can’t punch in or out on a time clock. I try to start each day in reflection, with a workout, and a plan for the day. When I’m not busy at work, I hang out with my beautiful wife Callie on our weekly date nights, play with our four-legged fur children, Laila the boxer and our cats, Mona and Lisa.
Week 1: First Impressions
How did you become the man you are today?
I feel confident because when the attire matches the context, it helps me be the best me, inside and out. If people have the opportunity to receive the right clothing for job interviews or other professional or vocational settings, it can be a game changer helping them to the next level. I’m thankful for the opportunity to cast a vision, helping people be empowered to receive all the tools they need to pursue their dreams.
I haven’t done it by myself, no matter how independent I desire to be, or despite the need to say, “I’ve earned it on my own.” I have been able to pursue my dreams with the help of role models, mentors, and my experience in the U.S. Marine Corps, Navy, the help of my wife Callie, and most of all, my faith in God. I wouldn’t be where I am today as a man without surrounding myself with great people through all the seasons of my life.
Why should people vote for you as the best Role Model for Men at Work?
Honestly, I’d like your vote because I love helping people. However, it doesn’t matter for whom you vote as long as you desire to see people in our communities empowered with the tools they need.
